By adhering to the following best practices, you can help protect yourself against credit card scams conducted over the phone. Check our Security Centre for more information on how to stay safe online.

1. The best way to avoid falling victim to a credit card scam conducted over the phone is to only give your credit card information to a trusted party.

2. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from HomeAway.co.uk and asking for your credit card details, please check the following to make sure you are speaking with a HomeAway.co.uk representative:
 - If you are a new advertiser that has attempted to register with HomeAway.co.uk online but has not finished the registration process – Our Sales team will confirm the exact date and time when you registered on the website when they introduce themselves. If the person on the phone is not able to confirm these details, please do not share your credit card details and instead just hang up, wait a few minutes for the line to clear, and then call our Customer Service department on +44 (0)208 827 1971  to confirm whether a HomeAway.co.uk representative called you.

- If you are an existing owner renewing a subscription - Our Sales team will always ask you to confirm your security questions before proceeding with the payment. If the person on the phone is not able to confirm your security questions, please do not share your credit card details and instead just hang up, wait a few minutes for the line to clear, and then call our Customer Service department on +44 (0)208 827 1971 to confirm whether a HomeAway.co.uk representative called you.

3. Review your credit card charges frequently. If you do not recognise a charge on your statement, contact your bank or credit card provider to take action against further charges.

If you think you have already given your credit card information to a scammer, contact your bank right away. Review your charges and dispute any unauthorised charges. Request a new credit card number.
